Overview
South Shore Village Golf Club, home to a beautifully designed 9-hole, par 35 course in South Kingstown, RI, is seeking an experienced and driven PGA Head Golf Professional. Developed by renowned builder Larry LeBlanc and masterfully designed by golf course architect Ron Cutlip, a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, the course integrates historic 17th-century stone walls and immaculate conditions that have earned praise from golf writers and players alike.
Located within an over-55 luxury condominium community, the course is open to both residents and the public and is quickly becoming a destination for golfers of all skill levels. With premier facilities including one of Rhode Island’s top driving ranges, a first-class chipping green, and a putting green, South Shore Village offers an exceptional environment for growth, instruction, and community engagement.
This is a year-round position. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a special community-oriented, non-profit golf operation whose surplus benefits local charities including St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Position Summary
The PGA Head Golf Professional will be responsible for all aspects of public-facing golf operations, ensuring a world-class experience for members, residents, and public guests. This role will oversee pro shop operations, merchandising, instructional programming, tournament and event coordination, and the development of a strong, service-driven golf staff. The role works closely with the Grounds and Maintenance manager.
The successful candidate will bring leadership, creativity, and a passion for the game to help shape the future of this emerging gem in Rhode Island golf.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily golf operations, including pro shop management, merchandising, and customer service.
- Organize, manage, and execute golf tournaments, leagues, and events for residents and guests.
- Provide individual and group golf instruction using best practices and technology.
- Manage and train golf staff to ensure excellent service standards and operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with members, residents, guests, and vendors.
- Oversee golf car fleet operations, driving range, practice areas, and teaching facilities.
- Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and company standards.
- Work closely with the Executive Board to set budgets, manage expenses, and achieve revenue goals.
- Work closely with Grounds and Maintenance Manager to coordinate pro shop and grounds operations schedules and course projects
- Maintain accurate tee sheets and integrate with point-of-sale and inventory systems.
- Drive participation and engagement in instructional programs, clinics, and junior golf development (if applicable).
Qualifications
- PGA or LPGA Membership required.
- College degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Golf Professional, preferably in a private club or semi-private environment.
- Demonstrated success in team leadership, event coordination, instruction, and retail merchandising.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proven customer service excellence and communication skills.
- Deep knowledge of golf trends, best practices, and teaching methodologies.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Technical & Software Proficiency
- Advanced experience with golf-specific technology platforms including:
- GHIN
- ChronoGolf
- Lightspeed
- Golf Genius
- POS and tee sheet management systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Compensation
- Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications. Salary range of $75,000-$100,000 annually.
